A new Christian Doppler Laboratory has been opened at the University of Leoben to research the fundamentals of producing high-performance steels with a reduced carbon footprint. Green Tech Valley company voestalpine is on board as an industrial partner. “By revolutionizing steel production, this lab makes a significant contribution to current key topics such as sustainability, energy saving and recycling,” says lab director Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ronald Schnitzer.
Partners in the new CD Laboratory are three leading Austrian companies of the voestalpine Group: voestalpine Stahl GmbH, voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH, and voestalpine Böhler Edelstahl GmbH & Co KG. A scientific cooperation exists with the Chair of General and Analytical Chemistry, also at the University of Leoben.
