AMSC Austria, subsidiary of American Superconductor (AMSC), has been developing complete solutions for the manufacturing of wind turbines for over 25 years. By combining know-how of the areas mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and software, the company is able to deliver technology, control hardware and software to enable customers to build the wind turbines. With its “Windtec Solutions”, AMSC Austria offers optimized wind turbine designs for licensing which are tested and certified according to international standards, including detailed electrical and mechanical documentation, in the range from 2 to 10+ MW. Globally, more than 10,000 turbines with a total performance of more than 17 GW have been installed with the technology of AMSC Austria. AMSC Austria is searching for potential licensees and cooperation partners who plan to manufacture and erect wind turbines in the multi-megawatt range independently and locally. Thus, the added value stays in the country and enables the development of a wind energy cluster offering a large number of qualified as well as sustainable jobs in the high technology sector. A training and support program enables the commissioning of the first wind turbine within 10 to 15 months. AMSC Austria is also offering multi-vendor retrofit solutions, like exchange of controls, smart yaw auto calibration, turbine condition assessment, alternative parts integration, and lifetime extension. All these solutions enable the operator’s independence from the OEM, insourcing of O&M activities and AEP improvement. In addition, AMSC Austria offers system solutions for converter and rectifier applications for renewable energy generation, especially in the direction of photovoltaics and hydrogen.
