EcoCan was founded in 2011 in the “Center for applied Technologie” (Zentrum für angewandte Technologie) at the Montanuniversität Leoben. The aim of EcoCan is it to achieve a more efficient and environmental reasonable light efficiency by introducing new light steering technologies. Therefore EcoCan developed the “Lightbooster” (for fluorescent lamps) and in further consequences the “LED Booster” (for LED lamps). The core of this new technology is the combination of a reflector, the lamp and a light steering foil. The research work of EcoCan in this area was awarded with nominations for the “Fast Forward Award 2012” of the state Styria, the “Austrian State Award 2013” and the “futurezone Award 2014”.
