HyCentA Research GmbH, Austria’s leading non-university research institute for hydrogen technologies, and AVL List GmbH, a leading global provider of mobility and testing technologies, are joining forces. As part of the ReMET project (Revolutionary Measurement and Testing Technologies for Hydrogen Applications), they are jointly driving forward the development of pioneering measurement and testing methods for hydrogen applications.
This strategic partnership focuses in particular on electrolysers, fuel cells and hydrogen storage systems with the aim of optimizing their performance, efficiency and service life.
The ReMET project is funded by the COMET program and several Austrian federal ministries and sets new standards in hydrogen research. The central areas of innovation are
New testing methods for electrolyzers – analyzing degradation and operating condition for improved durability.
Precise measurement technology for hydrogen systems – efficient monitoring for cost reduction and operational safety.
Material compatibility studies – long-term stability and permeability to ensure safe hydrogen applications.
Integration of diagnostic tools for online condition monitoring – Detection of degradation mechanisms and optimization of fuel cell lifetime.
Simulation models and AI-supported test systems – improving predictive maintenance and performance optimization.
Standardization and certification – development of standards for the safe use of hydrogen technologies.
With this cooperation, HyCentA and AVL are laying the foundation for the next generation of testing and measurement technologies – a decisive step for the safe and efficient use of hydrogen in industry and mobility.
“This collaboration is a milestone for hydrogen research. Through our joint expertise, we can develop innovative solutions that will have a lasting impact on the future of hydrogen technology,” says Dr. Alexander Trattner, CEO & Head of Research, HyCentA Research GmbH
“With our experience in simulation and testing, we are helping to raise the efficiency and sustainability of hydrogen applications to a new level,” adds
Helmut Iancu, Global Business Segment Manager at AVL.
