Originally tasked with establishing a disposal system for refrigerators (Kühlschrankpickerl), UFH has significantly expanded its service portfolio over the years. In addition to its activities as a collection and recycling system for waste electrical and electronic equipment and batteries, UFH operates one of Europe's most modern refrigerator recycling plants in Kematen an der Ybbs together with Remondis Electrorecycling. UFH also offers a service for foreign distance sellers and manufacturers in the form of an authorised representative within the meaning of the WEEE and Batteries Ordinance. Since 2016, the portfolio has further expanded to include environmentally friendly and resource-efficient disposal services across the entire photovoltaic sector. Defective PV modules, along with energy storage systems and inverters, can be handed over to UFH as an authorised collector. In 2018, UFH founded Secontrade GmbH, a digital marketplace for secondary raw materials, to facilitate the trade in valuable secondary raw materials across Europe and promote the circular economy. The marketplace allows trading of valuable materials such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, glass, construction debris, wood waste, and biogenic residues. As a founding partner and the only Austrian member of the "WEEE Forum", UFH plays a key role at European level in developing and promoting uniformly high standards in recycling. The company is also a member of the European used lamp association EucoLight.
