The Graz-based technology company lixtec GmbH specializes in innovative solutions for demand-responsive and environmentally friendly lighting control. At the heart of the technology are high-precision radar sensors that continuously record the volume of traffic on roads and paths. Combined with light management systems, this smart city technology enables dynamic adaptation of the light to the traffic volume by recognizing road users and controlling the light intensity as needed. Easy installation on LED luminaires with Zhaga interfaces makes the solution flexible and scalable. The goal is to save energy and CO2, reduce light pollution, cut costs and protect the environment. Situational control of LED lighting saves up to 80% energy compared to conventional street lighting, reduces the load on the power grid, extends the life of the luminaires and reduces the need for power plants. Just switching to LED luminaires with on-demand lighting control throughout Austria could save the entire output of a large hydroelectric power plant. Applications range from roads, sidewalks, and bike paths to roundabouts, residential areas, parks, and industrial sites.
