Green Energy Lab is Austria's largest research initiative and innovation lab in the area of green energy systems and renewable energy.
Green Energy Lab, a research initiative for sustainable energy solutions and part of the Austrian innovation campaign “Vorzeigeregion Energie” (“Flagship Region Energy”) of the Climate and Energy Fund. More than 300 partners from research, industry, and the public sector join the utility companies of four eastern federal states (“Wien Energie” in Vienna, “EVN” in Lower Austria, “Burgenland Energie” in Burgenland, and “Energie Steiermark” in Styria) to develop demand-oriented, scalable solutions all the way from prototypes to marketability. Direct access to the core market of energy suppliers allows for new developments to be tested immediately in a market of 5 million consumers. Around 50 Green Energy Lab projects with a total volume of more than 150 million euros are currently coordinated and supported by Green Energy Lab. The diverse range of topics encompasses reduction of CO2 emissions in the district heating sector, usability of used e-car batteries as storage modules and the optimized distribution of network resources, solutions for local energy communites and much more.
