Energy Transition Calculator "RESYS" & the Digital Energy Transition Toolbox for Municipalities / Regions

With "RESYS" to a Renewable Energy System: A digital toolbox for comprehensive energy transition planning that reflects local conditions, time dynamics, value creation, and stakeholders – enabling strategy development for renewable energy supply and implementation towards energy self-sufficiency.
The RESYS tool helps with realistic planning and eliminates unfounded arguments such as "renewables generate power at the wrong time." Target group: The digital toolbox supports municipalities with up to 10,000 inhabitants, large cities, and regions in their energy transition. Stakeholders in energy planning and environmental consulting, as well as educational institutions and research organizations, can also benefit from it. Municipalities can use RESYS to develop a SECAP (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan) – a valuable tool, especially for members of the Covenant of Mayors. Taking municipal responsibility for international climate goals: - Energy demand and production in hourly resolution – for all municipal sectors (households, businesses, administration, transportation, etc.), covering multiple energy sources (lighting, cooling, heating, process heat, etc.) - Analysis of locally/regionally available renewable energy sources - Consideration of local climate conditions and models - Mapping of measures on the energy landscape and estimation of land use needs and potential (also considering climate data) Simulation of scenarios for renewable energy technologies in the optimal mix - Integration of stakeholders (e.g., large consumers, energy and metering facilities) using process network synthesis - Exploration of energy storage options – identification of storage and balancing needs over daily and seasonal cycles - Emissions analysis - Calculation of costs & value creation - Impact monitoring and assessment - Benchmarking to support the national energy supply - Export of graphical results for stakeholders - Meaningful first results with minimal input: Standard data from over 160 Austrian municipalities, around 30 European cities, and 15 unique urban projects help fill data gaps. Climate models and simulations can be gradually integrated. - Secure and green IT: Servers located in Austria and Germany, GDPR-compliant, compatible with ISO 50001 energy management, sustainable hosting - Quality backed by over 10 years of research and pilot projects in Austrian and German cities, as well as climate and energy model regions; currently used and further developed in collaboration with the City of Graz (Environmental Department) - Cooperation with partners such as Dr. Wind, Dr. Lunzer, and institutions like TU Vienna, BOKU Vienna, IRUB, STUDIA - Target group engagement directly or via energy agencies, consultants, and networks
