The firm IPUS has developed a patented analysis process for biogas fermenters, through which chemical analyses of fermenters are rendered superfluous. With IPUS Nanobag® Analysis, the contents of the fermenter are measured quickly and simply by means of near-infrared spectroscopy. Biogas liquid manure is immobilised on a specially developed clinoptilolite carrier material, which is then measured by NIRS. The quantitative determination of the constituents follows through evaluation of the spectra produced by means of calibration curves.

The innovations of the IPUS Nanobag® Analysis at a glance: because of immobilisation, the self-extracted sample becomes almost odourless, and can easily be sent by post (without refrigeration etc.). Moreover, in contrast to wet chemical analysis, all relevant parameters can be determined in a single, non-destructive measurement process.

These factors make possible low analysis costs with savings of 80%, as well as the availability of analysis results within 3 working days after the sample was sent.

This enables in turn a targeted management of biogas plants. The quickly available analysis results lead to substratum savings, as well as – by means of active response – to faster and more complete fermentation. All in all, this leads to the more profitable operation of the entire plant.

The following key parameters can be determined and interpreted: total nitrogen, ammonium, dry matter, organic dry matter, pH, fermentation acidity, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and phosphate.
