5. November 2010

When a global corporation decides to move back its headquarters to Styria after years in Vienna, then this decision is based on many factors. With the lateral entrance into photovoltaics production, AT&S has established a new core competence in the field of environmental engineering, and thus also uses the advantages of the environmental engineering location No. 1.

In 2011, the AT&S headquarters will be relocated from Vienna back to Leoben Hinterberg in Styria. According to the company management, cost savings potentials and the excellent possibilities for cooperations with the Styrian centres of competence and universities are decisive for that.

Styria offers investors and companies in the field of energy and environmental engineering excellent location factors. Beside the economical and political support with business-friendly outline conditions, Styria above all scores with excellent potentials for cooperations and workforce with five Styrian universities, seven competence centres, big research institutions like, e.g., Joanneum Research and the more than 160 companies in the field of energy and environmental engineering linked in the ECO WORLD STYRIA cluster. Furthermore, companies esteem the central location within Europe, the excellent quality of life and the magnificent landscape.

The headquarters in the technology centre of Leoben Hinterberg will also become the centre for technological innovations, wherein above all with the development and manufacture of new solar modules, around 90 new jobs will be created in addition to the 700 existing ones. In cooperation with the division Headquarters Consulting of Steirische WirtschaftsförderungsgmbH (SFG), ECO WORLD STYRIA supports the settlement of new headquarters and centres of competence.
