Energy exploitation from Styria
At the „breathe.austria“ grounds, which extend over 560 square metres, a total of 60 trees, up to twelve metres high, have been planted. In this air power station, which provides natural air conditioning, environmentally friendly energy is produced. The technology comes from Styria. The natural cooling is accomplished on the roof of the pavilion using a Grätzel-cell from SFL technologies and the FIBAG Research Centre. The new glass technology is based on the principle of photosynthesis and is installed over a large area. „It is currently the most innovative solar energy solution and is a world first,“ noted FIBAG Board Member Mario Müller. The inspiration and leadership behind the overall project is Architect and University Professor Klaus K. Loenhard of Graz University of Technology: „Our pavilion is the prototype for future city planning that takes advantage of the natural capabilities of nature. We have a vision: With ten percent more yield from natural air conditioning we can compensate for a temperature rise of two degrees Celsius due to climate change! „
