The driver does not need to get out of the car and connect a cable, nor does he need to ensure that he parks exactly over the charging unit. Ultra-broadband radio technology is used to connect the base plate to the EV. Charging occurs via 22 kW AC. In a second stage, a quick charging solution is planned, which can be inset into the ground and will offer upwards of 50 kW DC charging. This could be installed in multi-storey car parks, at filling stations or on company premises. The first pilot series production AC system, which will meet all the certification criteria for the automotive industry, should be ready by mid-2022.
