In 2025, five ambitious start-ups and spin-offs that were supported and mentored by ZAT attracted more than \u20ac4.8 million in funding and investment for their projects to Leoben.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><div id=\"viewer-ey61l1800\" class=\"dEt5S sjVPj uTlzf nEzPS\" dir=\"auto\">The supported projects focus on future technologies in the fields of high-tech, materials, sustainability and digitalisation \u2013 with solutions that have an impact not only technologically but also socially.<\/div><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block7\">\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><h2><span class=\"Q-E3F uTlzf\"><strong>2.6 million euros in private investment for Fiber Elements<\/strong><\/span><\/h2><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block8\">\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-ny84t1991\" class=\"dEt5S sjVPj uTlzf nEzPS\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"Q-E3F uTlzf\">ZAT start-up Fiber Elements has completed an impressive seed financing round worth millions to scale up its automated production of basalt fibre components. The team aims to replace steel in the construction industry with mineral composites that are three times stronger, two-thirds lighter and associated with up to 70% less CO\u2082 emissions. The investment round was led by LEA Partners and the Amadeus APEX Technology Fund. (www.fiber-elements.com)<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block9\">\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-huvaf32494\" class=\"dEt5S sjVPj uTlzf nEzPS\" dir=\"auto\"><strong style=\"color: inherit; font-family: 'Museo Slab', sans-serif; font-size: 32px;\">2.2 million euros in public funding<\/strong><\/p><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block11\">\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-k5he132498\" class=\"dEt5S sjVPj uTlzf nEzPS\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"Q-E3F uTlzf\">In addition to the investment, four other teams \u2013 MPC2 (https:\/\/www.mpc2.at), ACR Materials, Polydecypher (https:\/\/polydecypher.com) and Cairos (http:\/\/cairos-energy.com) \u2013 received funding from the federal government, the state and the EU. The funds come from various programmes run by the FFG, AWS and SFG. The projects range from highly specialised testing technology for metallic materials to deep tech solutions and AI-based data analytics.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block12\">\u00a0<span class=\"Q-E3F uTlzf\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><h2><span class=\"Q-E3F uTlzf\">The ZAT Leoben incubator acts as a catalyst.<\/span><\/h2><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block14\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-wm72l2211\" class=\"dEt5S sjVPj uTlzf nEzPS\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"Q-E3F uTlzf\">All teams received intensive support as part of ZAT programmes and were assisted in obtaining funding and capital. Among other things, ZAT is part of Green Startupmark as Green Startup Centre Leoben, which focuses on sustainable high-tech start-ups.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block16\">\u00a0The ACR Materials team made another mark by taking first place in the university-wide MUL:idea ideas competition and receiving the GreenTech Special Award 2025 in the i2B business plan competition \u2013 a strong signal of the innovative power coming out of the university environment.<\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block18\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><h2 id=\"viewer-nhgah32692\" class=\"dm27a K8n8y J7otF nEzPS\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"bHqri\">Statements:<\/span><\/h2><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block20\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block21\">\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-eaz7y33542\" class=\"dEt5S sjVPj J7otF nEzPS\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"Q-E3F\"><strong>Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. The fact that over 4.8 million euros in funding and investments have been attracted to Leoben in such a short time is not only a great success for the founding teams involved, but also a strong signal for Upper Styria as a location. Once again, we see how important structures such as ZAT and collaborations such as Green Startupmark are in promoting entrepreneurial thinking in the university environment.
