The goal of the project is not only to reduce emissions from cellulose production but also to consistently utilize them as a resource.<\/p><p>The developed process solution treats both \u201clean\u201d and \u201crich\u201d exhaust gases and uses liquid sulfur simultaneously as an energy source and reaction medium. The result is highly concentrated, industrial-grade sulfuric acid as well as saturated steam\u2014both valuable process media that are directly reintegrated into the production cycle. No liquid or solid waste streams are generated in the process. In this way, the plant sustainably improves both the site\u2019s environmental footprint and its energy and resource efficiency.<\/p><p>A key milestone in the project was the conduct of a comprehensive HAZOP study in Graz. International experts from Futamura UK worked together with the team from P&amp;P Industries AG and partners in a structured, interdisciplinary process to systematically analyze the planned plant.
