They have moulded the corporate landscape of Styria and Carinthia, which now represents a formidable innovative force in both the green power \u2013 hydro, solar and biomass \u2013 as well as the recycling sectors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-family: Roboto; color: #1a1a1a;\">With a heightened level of environmental awareness and inventive tenacity, they are leading the south of Austria toward a green future. They are not just transforming this industrial region into a high-skill, knowledge-based production and service location, they are also establishing environmental technology as a pillar of the starting point goes back to the Styrian industrialist,\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Viktor_Kaplan\"><span style=\"font-family: Roboto;\">Viktor Kaplan<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-family: Roboto; color: #1a1a1a;\">.\u00a0The Kaplan water turbine was his pioneering invention, and drew worldwide attention to southern Austria even at the beginning of the 20th century. This is how electricity was generated from hydropower for the first time.\u00a0Today, every 5th kWh of green electricity worldwide is generated using hydropower technology from the Green Tech Valley.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1d6c974 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget-tablet__width-inherit elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1d6c974\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-family: Roboto; color: #1a1a1a;\">The electrical engineering pioneer, Nikola Tesla, also worked here in the Green Tech Valley. Known by his admirers as the \u201cWizard of Electricity\u201d, the inventor studied at\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tugraz.at\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-family: Roboto;\">Graz University of Technology<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-family: Roboto; color: #1a1a1a;\">. In a spectacular manner, he demonstrated that electricity can be transmitted through air while being subjected to a voltage of two million volts.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e69e1fe elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget-tablet__width-inherit elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e69e1fe\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-family: Roboto; color: #1a1a1a;\">In the 1970s, solar power took centre stage. Self-assembly solar thermal systems from Styria took international markets by storm. And the research institute\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greentech.at\/en\/firmen\/aee-institut-f-nachhaltige-technologien\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AEE Intec<\/a> <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-family: Roboto; color: #1a1a1a;\">offered the first courses in this field. In the early 1990s, Robert Kanduth from Carinthia was busy tinkering around in his garage with his first attempts at solar collectors. Before long, he took the plunge and founded GREENoneTEC. His perseverance has been well rewarded. And the company has since developed to become the world&#8217;s largest manufacturer of solar thermal collectors.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a724215 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget-tablet__width-inherit elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a724215\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">A further green milestone: Fully automatic, sustainable heating using wood pellets.
