The Social Startup Compuritas has been found in 2009 in Graz, Austria. It provides an organizational and technical interface between hardware donators and recipients. As an environmentally and socially innovative enterprise, Compuritas collects cooperating companies’ hardware, repairs and reconditions it in its own IT workshop and allocates it to non-profit organizations, schools and private customers, according to its Distribution Charter. As well as affordable hardware, the new users receive repair and servicing at affordable rates. The Hardware Distribution Programme aims to support underprivileged sectors of society and to strengthen charities. This is done mainly through the distribution of hardware. Compuritas equips its recipients with fully-functional second-use equipment, thus providing them with access to computing resources in their daily lives that they could otherwise not afford. The main objective of the programme is to facilitate education and thereby effectively fight poverty by providing disadvantaged people with access to computer-based education. Charities and non-profit organizations benefit from an uncomplicated, professional source for the IT equipment that they need in their daily work. Social output is measured by the number of provided devices and the number of completed IT service working hours. Within the past years, the Compuritas Hardware-Distribution Programme has received national attention and has earned numerous respected awards for its innovative business concept (e.g. Austrian Climate Protection Award, Trigos, Ö-GUT Environment Award)
