Montan University Leoben optimises aluminium recycling

In August 2012, the Montan University of Leoben (MUL) started a project with the objective of producing precise, high-quality structural components with high-quality anodised layers of recycled aluminium.

Due to the globally increasing demand for aluminium and stricter legal provisions, the manufacture of secondary aluminium could become more and more important in the future. In addition, the energy requirement upon recycling of scrap amounts to only about 10 % of that of primary manufacture. Problematic residual materials, too, can be avoided for the most part.
