AEE - Institute for Sustainable Technologies (AEE INTEC) was founded in 1988 and is today one of the leading European institutes of applied research in the field of renewable energy and resource efficiency. In the three target group areas "Buildings", "Cities & Grids" and "Industrial Systems" as well as three technological working groups "Renewable Energies", "Thermal Storage" and "Water and Process Technologies", the R&D projects range from basic research projects to the implementation of demonstration plants. AEE INTEC currently employs around 80 people from eight different nations in Gleisdorf. With an average of three PhD students and around ten diploma students, interns and student assistants, the institute also contributes to the training of highly qualified specialists. AEE INTEC has been a member of Austrian Cooperative Research - ACR since 2015. Research and development Since its foundation, AEE INTEC has made a significant contribution to the research, development, and implementation of sustainable technologies at national, European, and international levels. We see ourselves as a bridge builder from basic research projects to the implementation of demonstration plants in real operational environments. In addition to these research activities, AEE INTEC advises political decision-makers on energy and resource-related issues and offers companies and public bodies a broad portfolio of services. These range from technology consulting, technology development, and testing and measurement tasks to market studies and the support of pilot implementations. Our customers are industrial companies and manufacturing SMEs as well as engineering and architectural offices, housing developers, energy suppliers, and cities and municipalities. Education and know-how transfer AEE INTEC organizes numerous know-how transfer projects, excursions, workshops, conferences, symposia, and webinars in order to efficiently and quickly transfer the experience and results from the projects into implementation. This also includes the publication of the journal "Sustainable Technologies" four times a year and our international conference "ISEC". Infrastructure and equipment In addition to the usual infrastructure for carrying out R&D projects, AEE INTEC has appropriate simulation programs at its disposal, which make it possible to model thermal engineering systems and components in detail and to simulate the system behavior. In addition, a laboratory and a collector test stand equipped with extensive measurement technology and a test box for façade elements are available for conducting experiments and laboratory tests. For the detailed recording, evaluation, and documentation of thermal processes as well as weather data, AEE INTEC has extensive measurement equipment at its disposal, which enables recording with high temporal resolution.
