Andritz Energy receives order worth 80 million in England

Andritz Energy & Environmental (AE&E) will deliver substantial plants for a biomass power station for power generation near Sheffield in Great Britain. Construction will start in November still.

GRAZ. A nice big order was announced by Andritz Energy & Environment (AE&E). The company will deliver substantial plants for a biomass power station near the English city of Sheffield. The order value amounts to 79.5 million Euros.

The power station with a capacity of 30 megawatts electric or 97 megawatts thermal, respectively, is to generate electricity for around 40,000 households by combustion of used wood in a fluidised-bed furnace. The order for the erection of part of the Blackburn Meadows Renewable Energy Plant was received by AE&E from the British E.ON Climate & Renewables.

The order for AE&E comprises engineering, delivery, assembly, and commissioning of the fluidised-bed plant, flue-gas purification plant, water-steam cycle with ancillary plants, as well as E-equipment and control systems. Construction is to start in November still; commissioning is planned for the end of 2013.

In the previous year, Andritz took over A&E from the bankrupt A-Tec. The now Andritz Energy & Environment “is matching Andritz very well”, emphasises Andritz Principal Wolfgang Leitner.
