ACC set global benchmark for efficient fridge compressors

In 2011, too, the most innovative company of Austria is based in Styria. ACC Austria GmbH of Fürstenfeld received the Austrian National Award Innovation 2011.

The research and development centre of ACC Austria won the National Award with the worldwide unique cooling compressor “Delta”. For five years, ACC Austria has been working meticulously on the worldwide most energy-saving compressor for household cooling appliances under 100 W. Today already, it fulfils the specifications, which will come into effect over the next 2-3 years. The heart of each fridge and freezer is smaller, more efficient and more cost-effective, substantially exceeds the currently best energy level and may thus be classified Class A***. Simultaneously, the cooling system’s degree of efficiency is improved by approx. 15 percent and energy costs are thus saved.

ACC Austria was established in Fürstenfeld in 1982. Supported by 925 employees, ACC Austria produces several million hermetic compressors per annum. The company has continuously grown, and in 2005, together with regional partners, the “ITZ” innovation and technology centre was founded – a step, which ensures the leading position among the worldwide technology leaders in this segment.

Since 2000, five further Styrian companies received the National Award Innovation: Infineon Technologies GmbH (2000), CNSystems Medizintechnik GmbH (2002), EPCOS OHG (2003), EFKON AG (2005) Binder + Co AG (2009).
