In the race for the prestigious “Regiostars Award 2012” of the EU, the Styrian Environmental Engineering Cluster ECO WORLD STYRIA was awarded as a finalist for “intelligent growth”; the awards ceremony of the winners will take place in June 2012.

Above all the innovative cluster services and the rapid growth of the industry resulted in this honour. From 2006 to 2010, the green-tech companies grew with an annual 18 %, which is almost twice as fast as the world market with around 10 %. Over the same period, 5,500 new green-tech jobs could be created, an increase of an annual around 10 %. Of the 6.9 billion Euros of overall turnover of the Styrian environmental engineering companies, 87 % are achieved in export. With 4.7 %, the research expenses of the industry point towards further innovations “made in Styria”.
