For the third time already, ECO WORLD STYRIA, the Styrian Federation of Industry and Graz University of Technology invited research capacities from science and economy into the Auditorium of the University of Technology on 20 March 2012, in order to jointly discuss the trends and challenges of the sector.

The inspiring event to initiate new research projects, technology development processes and cooperations in the area of energy and environmental engineering is the Cleantech Innovators Club. First priority of the event format is the exchange of ideas between researchers and entrepreneurs on Cleantech innovations and the detection of synergies, in order to advance the technology lead of Styria. With a persistently high research quota of 4.4 %, Styria is among the top research regions in the EU.

“We appreciate the value of the Green Tech Valley as technology supplier very much”, emphasised the technology scouts Robert Bozza and Caroline Tandonnet of Veolia at the Cleantech Innovators Club. With 300,000 employees worldwide, Veolia is the world’s largest operator of environmental engineering plants in the sectors of wastewater, energy and mobility. New business chances and an extension of the bilateral relations between the Green Tech Valley and Brazil in the areas of biomass, biogas and photovoltaics were also opened up by the presence of the “Sociedade Austro Brasiliera”.

Host Univ.-Prof. DI Dr. Harald Kainz, Rector of Graz University of Technology, Dr. Thomas Krautzer, Managing Director of IV Styria, and Ing. Bernhard Puttinger, Managing Director of ECO WORLD STYRIA agree: “Environmental and energy efficiency technologies reinforce as a central pillar the research and economic location Styria. And the Cleantech Innovators Club is the workshop for new eco-innovations for the global markets.”

The around 100 participants were offered a broad range of subjects from mobility of the future via bio-fuels, resource efficiency and material flow considerations up to the development in industrial wastewater purification.
