International technology Group ANDRITZ has signed a cooperation agreement with the Spanish recycling specialists Alucha, for the delivery of new technologies and equipment for the pyrolysis of rejects (waste) incurred in the processing of beverage cartons to paper.

Pyrolysis of rejects leads to a reduction in operating costs of industrial plants and equipment, for example, in the pulp and paper industry and makes a significant contribution to protecting the environment.

Through treatment of rejects from liquid packaging cartons, the fibres can be recovered and the residual fraction separated into aluminium, gas, and oil by means of pyrolysis. The recycled aluminium can be sold, while the oil and gas produced by pyrolysis can be used to generate heat or electricity, thereby reducing the overall operating costs as well as the burden on natural resources.

ANDRITZ has extensive expertise in the field of treatment of rejects and under the terms of this cooperation will act as a system supplier as well as a sales and licensing partner. Alucha is one of the world´s leading developers of pyrolysis processes for industrial applications.
